Vétraz-Monthoux
Vétraz-Monthoux, a French town situated in the Haute-Savoie
department within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, forms part of
the broader Geneva metropolitan area. Positioned in northern
Haute-Savoie, close to the Swiss border, Vétraz-Monthoux shares
boundaries with various neighboring towns. The landscape of
Vétraz-Monthoux is characterized by the Monthoux hill, which rises
to 571 meters and provides views of the Geneva area and the Alps.
Created in 1973 through the merging of Vétraz and Monthoux,
Vétraz-Monthoux has seen considerable population growth,
increasing from 2,231 residents in 1968 to 9,874 in 2021. Key landmarks
in Vétraz-Monthoux include the Saint-Martin church in Vétraz, the
chapel and former castle of Monthoux, and the Haut-Monthoux
park. Primarily a residential community with some local commerce,
